Full Masking Dust Containment

Popcorn scraping is messy and wet. Before we touch the ceiling, we mask your floors and walls with 2-ply plastic sheeting, seal vents, cover light fixtures, and construct containment barriers. This ensures your home stays clean throughout the process.

Water-Misted Scraping Techniques

We lightly mist the ceiling with water to loosen the binders in the acoustic texture. This allows us to scrape the material away cleanly, reducing dust and preventing damage to the drywall paper backing beneath.

Ceiling Leveling and Retexturing

Once the popcorn is gone, original joist flaws and seams are revealed. We mud any low spots, sand the ceiling flat, apply a sealer primer, and spray a modern texture match like knockdown or orange peel, or sand to a level 5 smooth coat.

Frequently asked questions

Popcorn textures applied before 1980 often contain asbestos. If your home was built before then, we require testing before scraping. If asbestos is present, specialized abatement is required.
